Menashe Kadishman

Ranging from painting to sculpture and installation, Kadishman's work first astonished the art world with an installation of painted live sheep at the 1978 Venice Biennale. His prolific practice is among the most respected of Israel's foremost conceptualists. Menashe Kadishman has major permanent installations around the world including the vast sea of iron multiples, Shalechet (Fallen Leaves) in Daniel Libeskind's Jewish Museum, Berlin. His artwork addresses the unique scope of Israeli reality, using seriality and recurring motifs such as simplified archetypal faces of Shalechet or the symbol of the goat.
